Colville’s resin and acetate jewellery runs rings round the competition

Vibrant colours and bold silhouettes add a fun functionality to Colville’s jewellery

The functional becomes playful for Colville, who weave unexpected materials into bold and colourful loops. The twisted tube acetate necklace, pictured above, is a case in point: the juxtaposition of textures we have come to recognise from their fashion epitomises wearability when translated into jewellery.

‘We loved the shot of colour and were inspired by the cyber jewellery from the 1990s,’ say Colville founders Lucinda Chambers and Molly Molloy on the tubes of pink resin winding through a gold-tone metal cable chain. ‘It was about the colour and the lightness, it just felt right and like nothing we had seen. Mixing the two materials gives the resin a chic edge.’

Other pieces focus on one design facet: a simple earring knot pops when in a single candyfloss hue. ‘The idea of a knot through the ear really appealed to us and worked really well with the clothes,’ they say on the acetate earrings in delicious pink or blue. The cluster ball-drop earrings, too, embrace colour, but add a geometrical clash of shapes into the maximalist mix.

The jewellery is the product of a partnership with designer Valeria Bersanetti. ‘We bounce ideas off each other all the time, her knowledge of materials and working with artisans is incredible,’ Colville say. ‘We have some styles that we continue from collection to collection and we add in new ideas each season.’ §
